Acheson Hotels v. Laufer

Plaintiff Deborah Laufer, a person who uses a wheelchair, sued Acheson Hotels alleging that the hotel chain failed to post accessibility information about its facilities online, in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This case was important not just in determining the outcome of Laufer’s claim, but in deciding the fate of “tester” cases — cases brought by people with disabilities against businesses that discriminate and violate accommodations laws — more broadly.

The case was dismissed as moot on December 5, 2023.
