The Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI) is the “research and education institute of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America,” (SBA-PLA) an anti-choice organization that, in its own words, “exists to end abortion.” Its “research” has spread medical disinformation about abortion: for example, the group’s widely publicized articles claiming mifepristone is dangerous, which medical consensus disagrees with, were retracted by Sage Publications. CLI also received more than $25,000 in 2021 from Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the group that brought the Dobbs litigation to overturn Roe v. Wade. Both CLI and SBA-PLA filed amicus briefs in ADF’s Dobbs case. CLI claims more than 17 amicus briefs filed with the Supreme Court in Dobbs cited its research. SBA-PLA is also a supporter of the Heritage Foundation’s controversial Project 2025.
