Supreme Transparency

Becket, previously known as the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and Becket Law, is a right-wing law firm that litigates cases to erode reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, and contraception access. It previously litigated Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, in which the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 on partisan lines to undermine contraception care under the Affordable Care Act, allowing bosses to block employee access to birth control.

Leonard Leo
Leonard Leo is an arch right-wing operative who has amassed a fortune through a web of dark money organizations he has used to radically transform the judiciary. Leo helps steer Becket in its Board of Directors, which he has served on since 2015. In 2017, Becket presented Leo with its Canterbury Medal, the organization’s “highest honor.” In 2022 alone, a Leonard Leo organization gave $550,000 to the Becket Fund — part of Leo’s multi-million dollar funding spree to organizations (successfully) attempting to influence the Supreme Court to strike down protections for LGBTQ+ people in 2023’s 303 Creative LLC v. Elenis.
