Warner Chappell Music v. Nealy

In Warner Chappell Music v. Nealy, the Supreme Court considered whether plaintiffs can get remedies for copyright violations that happened more than three years before the start of the lawsuit.

On May 9, 2024, in a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that copyright owners can obtain remedies for any “timely” copyright infringement claim, regardless of when the infringement occurred. Justices Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissented.
