Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic

Court Accountability: “The Medicaid Act allows any of its recipients to seek medical care with ‘any qualified provider.’ After South Carolina defunded Planned Parenthood, a woman brought suit under the Medicaid Act to vindicate her right to have her care at Planned Parenthood be covered under the federal law. The majority at oral argument appeared split over whether to follow precedent and recognize the plaintiff’s right to sue under the Medicaid Act, or to abandon precedent out of political animus towards Planned Parenthood.” (See Court Accountability’s full June Decisions Preview here.)
